All questions or issues relating to the larger community outside of the classroom and curriculum should be addressed to various members of the administration at LHS. Your first point of contact on all daily matters relating to your child is with the Dean assigned to your child. If you are unsure of whom to contact regarding any issue, please call the Main Office and the staff can help direct your calls to the appropriate person.
Principal Natalie Cohen is always available to you should you not be
able to find satisfactory answers to your questions elsewhere.
Most policy questions can be answered by checking the Student/Parent
Handbook which is distributed to students in homeroom at the beginning
of each year. Certain policies, however, require parental input and
are highlighted here:
Attendance
(Please check Student/Parent Handbook for full details):
• Absences must be called in to your child’s Dean’s office by 10:00
a.m. on the day of the absence.
• Any call from the Dean’s office regarding unexplained class absences
requires an immediate response! It is important that any class absence
incorrectly attributed to your child be remedied to prevent possible
confusion on the permanent record.
• Teachers and Deans will work together to monitor student attendance.
They will frequently speak with students about absences and tardies.
However, parent communication with their students is a critical step
in the communication process.
Substance Use Policy
• Because LHS believes strongly in helping students to make healthy choices, there is a policy regarding use of illegal substances which applies to the student’s life both in and out of school. Please read the Student/Parent Handbook for a full explanation of this policy. The school cooperates fully with the Lexington Police at all times.
