Friends
of Lexington Music, Art and Drama Students, Inc., established formally
in the 1994-95 school year, is a non-profit organization created to foster
and promote excellence in the fine and performing arts programs in the
Lexington Public Schools. Supporting the essential role of the arts in
the life of every Lexington student is the guiding principle of FOLMADS.
Contributions to FOLMADS are tax deductible and are used throughout the
school system to purchase items to enhance the arts programs that are
not covered under the school budget.
Since 1995 FOLMADS has provided grants to fine and performing arts teachers
at all grade levels for such items as body microphones to be used in musical
performances, easels for the LHS Visual Arts program, art display equipment
for the middle and elementary schools, choral risers, a pottery wheel,
and kilns. FOLMADS also initiated an instrumental/purchase plan for $15,000
worth of instruments for the middle and high schools.

In addition, volunteers usher and sell tickets at concerts and other performances
and provide other supporting services to help make programs a success,
including concession services (snack bars, refreshments), driving, baking,
sewing, publications, publicity, informational letters to parents, receptions,
etc. We welcome your suggestions.
