Grades for choral ensembles will be based
on three criteria:
A. Attendance
1.
Students are expected to be
at every rehearsal. An unexcused absence will result in an incremental
grade drop. (B to B-)
2.
Students are expected to perform
in all scheduled concerts and be in attendance at the combined dress
rehearsals prior to the concerts.
B. Rehearsal process
1.
Students are expected to be
in position ready to sing when the late bell rings.
2.
Students will demonstrate
good posture and work toward developing good vocal technique.
3.
Students will show they are
actively involved in the rehearsal process by their alert and cooperative
behavior - no talking or disruptive behavior.
C. Performance assessment
1.
Once each quarter students
will sing an excerpt (selected by the director from the repertoire)
for assessment.
2.
Not all entering students
will be at the same level vocally; therefore the grading policy is
not ability biased. Students will be expected to make progress in
their musical ability over the course of a year.
The three above areas of expectation will
be taken in consideration and a grade detemined according to the following:
Grade of A - Exceeds course expectations
Grade of B - Meets course expectations
Grade of C - Some course expectations not
met
Grade of D - Many course expectations not
met
Grade of F - Fails to meet any course expectations
