MMEA District and All-State Information
The Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) sponsors three festivals throughout the school year. The festivals allow students from Lexington to join with players from other Massachusetts towns to participate in an orchestra. The groups rehearse two afternoons and perform at the end of the third rehearsal day. The performing experience opens doors of opportunity to many players as well as providing them with challenging repertoire. The Junior District Festival auditions are open to freshmen only. The Senior District Festival auditions are open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. The All-State ensemble is made up of top performers from the Senior District orchestra who are asked to audition. Students who plan to audition must be able to commit to the rehearsals and the concert dates and be a member in good standing in an LHS Orchestra. If a student knows of a pre-existing conflict with any of the dates s/he should not plan to audition. Dates for the auditions, rehearsals and concerts are as follows:
