Dear Parents and Students New to LHS,
On behalf of the administration, faculty, and staff, I want to welcome you to the Lexington High School community. This is surely an exciting time for you and your son or daughter. Lexington High School is dedicated to providing an outstanding academic program and a wide array of cocurricular activities. We encourage student involvement and student leadership through the many sports, clubs, and activities that are a vital part of this high school’s offerings. We promote character development and good citizenship by teaching the values of participation in this community. Above all, we are bound together through a commitment to learning.
You will find included under this cover the schedule for the first week of school. Please note in particular the half-day schedule on Tuesday, August 28th; the freshman barbeque on August 28th; the ninth-grade parent meeting on the evening of September 19th; the orientation for sophomores, juniors, and seniors new to Lexington High School; and the special full-day schedule for all students on August 29th.
Our annual back-to-school night program is scheduled for Thursday, October 4th.
We are mailing you under this cover the Field Guide for Parents New to Lexington High School to help orient you to your school and to answer questions that parents and students frequently ask. It contains much good information, and we invite you to read it carefully. In addition, we commend to your attention three other documents that contain essential information about school programs and policies: the LHS Program of Studies, which students received at the time of course selections in the spring; the LHS Student/Parent Handbook, which is mailed at the beginning of the school year; and the Communications Guide, attached to the September LHS Newsletter. Please keep these booklets for future reference. They may also be accessed on the LHS website at <lhs.lexingtonma.org/>.
Parents are encouraged to subscribe to the Lexington High School list server maintained by the PTSA. Emergency and time-sensitive announcements are sent out through the list server. You may consult the directions for subscribing at <lhs.lexingtonma.org/PTSA/>.
Finally, we encourage you to call us with any questions you have. We look forward to seeing you during the new academic year!
Sincerely,
Michael P. Jones, Principal
