The Lexington (MA) High School Foreign Language Department consists of 22 teachers
and 87 language courses in 7 languages. We are a school of about 1800 students
in grades nine through twelve. Our students are involved in a wide variety of
language related activities. The following are some highlights of our department's
activities.
September
Spanish exchange students arrive from Spain for
a two week stay with host families.
October
French exchange students from Lycée Descartes,
Antony, France, arrive for a two week stay with host families.
February
Honduras Community Service Project travels to Honduras.
March
Deutshes Fest: An elegant evening of dinner and
entertainment produced by the German classes.
National Examinations: AATSP, AATF, National Classical
League examinations
Cabaret International: Sponsored by the Club Français,
this is an evening of multicultural entertainment: skits, music, puppet shows,
poetry recitation, dance with a foreign flavor.
April
Lexington French exchange students
travel to Antony, France, for two week stay with their French
correspondants who (sadly) left in early November.
Lexington Spanish exchange students travel to Spain
for two week stay with their new friends who were here in September.
May
Foreign Language Awards Ceremony An evening
to recognize the efforts of our highest achieving foreign language students.
Students take Advanced Placement
exams in French Language, French Literature and Spanish Language.
