Back to LHS PTSA Home Page LHS PTSA Board 2006-2007 The LHS PTSA depends on parent volunteers for everything it does. Listed below are this year's volunteers and descriptions of the major jobs. If you would like to volunteer to help in one of these areas, please contact the coordinators in this list. If you would like to volunteer for one of the positions for the next school year, please contact the Nominating coordinators. Many volunteers do the job for more than one year so not all jobs are open for each year. We are all busy people, but if each of us would make a small contribution of time, the entire community would benefit. Position Volunteer Notes Co-Presidents Debora Hoard 861-8925 Opening Responsible for organizing, with the principal, 7 information forums during the school year, writing a monthly article for the newsletter, supervising the teacher grant process, preparing the budget with the treasurer, speaking at Back to School night and 8th grade orientation, and attending to minimal PTSA business that comes up. Vice-President Nancy Shepard 674-9296 Nora Aroyan 274-8778 Responsible for overseeing some of the PTSA subcommittees. VP acts as liaison with town wide PTA Presidents who meet monthly (currently, Wednesday mornings). Secretary Andrea Morrison 862-7010 Responsible for writing a summary of each PTSA forum (there are seven) for publication in the newsletter and on the Web site. Treasurer Janine Cohen Responsible for preparing the budget with the Copresidents, paying bills, depositing dues and fees, and doing whatever is needed to keep the PTSA accounts. All Night Graduation Party Senior Parents: Cindy Silva 862-1730 Janet Rossi 862-5543 Junior Parent: Opening(s) A senior parent and a junior parent work together to supervise the event. This is a two-year commitment. The junior parent becomes the senior parent the following year, and works with a new junior parent. There are many committee chairs that the coordinators work with - food, decorations, tickets, entertainment, and there are many many parents who volunteer to help. This is done at the end of September. They then meet with a PTSA copresident and the principal to determine which grants to provide. Many parents contribute food to these events, which are greatly appreciated by our teachers and staff. Newsletter Editor: Jean Cole 861-2320 x1005 Responsible for collecting and formatting information for the monthly newsletter, preparing the newsletter to be printed, and providing an electronic copy of the newsletter for online distribution. Calendar: Wendy Postlethwaite 862-4491 Responsible for obtaining the school calendar from three designated LHS administrators and collating it into one listing to be provided to the newsletter editor by the newsletter deadline. A big advantage to doing this job is that you always know what is going on. Distribution: Marsha Grollman 862-2512   Membership/Student Directory Directory: Sue Sharer 861-1129 Database: Randi Levine 863-5906 Data Entry Team: Kathleen Jick Sheera Knecht May Leung Diane Sperandio Lynn Stein These parents process membership forms, provide volunteer lists to coordinators, prepare and distribute school directories, and maintain a database of student and parent information that is used for both directory and membership purposes. The job is organized into small portions so that no one parent is overburdened. Additional activities for new families can also be planned. Exam Break Snacks Coordinator Kelly Tzannes 861-5299   Nominating Carol Rapp 863-5275 These parents advertise open jobs and find volunteers for the subsequent school year. It includes the principal, faculty, staff, community members, and five parent representatives. The PTSA facilitates the election of the parent representatives.
