Schedule change due to the snow day

Since we don't have school on the day we originally scheduled for our quadratic quiz. It will have to be on Friday, February 12th. If you will be out of school on Friday, I suggest, if it is at all possible, that you take the quiz tomorrow rather than waiting until we get back from break.

Starting Unit 5

Unit 5 is a big unit which will take us at least a month to do. We will start with quadratics, functions with x² in them. The unit focusses on zeros and the factored form of polynomial functions. We will not be doing the rational function sections of the unit.

On Tuesday after Labor Day we will begin our learning in earnest. When you come in to class every day there will be three warm-up questions. Don't be late or you will lose your chance to do the questions and to earn that days points! I will be giving out the workbooks for the first unit: Functions. We will jump right in.

Welcome to Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry. This year we are going to look more deeply into some of the algebra you have already seen and then move on to trigonometry, a really neat kind of function that behaves differently than all the functions you studied before. I am hoping we can use interesting problems for you to explore so if you have any hobbies or interests that you would like to see the math involved, please tell me. I will try to work them in. I am looking forward to a great year with you!
