Changing things up a little bit

Given that Thursday was going to be spent just doing problems and given that all of you already seem to understand the Trapezoidal Rule, I will talk about 5.5 briefly in class on Thursday, the homework will be extended to include that part of 5.5 (bring your books!) and that topic will be included on the test on Tuesday.  On Wednesday we will talk about Simpson's Rule (also in 5.5) and do some problems on that in class.  This way there will not be a quiz on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Chapter 5 Syllabus

This is the proposal.  It might change but I hope not. Chapter 5 is when we start looking at going the other way - e.g. if you start with the derivative, what is the function?  To be ready, you need a rectangular area approximation program in your calculator.  That is your after test homework.  The homework is listed by sections rather than pages so you will have to look it up.
