We will combine reviewing polynomials with placement discussions this week.

After this we will be reviewing polynomials to prepare for rational functions. There will be an in-class reassessment of polynomials during the first week in March.

2/12  Ch 9 Test of Conic Sections

On Monday, February 9th, I will hand out the rubric for the Conic Project, the Cumulative Review handout, and the review materials for the test.

On Friday, February 13th, G-Block will do something special and A-Block will enjoy the early vacation from math.

Parabolas

The geometric definition of parabolas showed us some important features of this quadratic relation that were hidden before.  Given that we spent a great deal of time with the algebraic definition of parabolas in the previous unit, the single night of parabola homework focusses on the similarities with the other conic sections.

Hyperbola Homework

We will spend two days on hyperbolas, a day focussing on the algebraic and a day focussing on the geometric definitions.  We won't get all of the vocabulary the first day so some of the homework needs to be revisited the second night.
