Working up to vacation

We will be moving into the Brown book to do more geometric
applications of the trig functions. You will be responsible for
completing the classwork problems as well as the homework.

Wed 12/21 Solving Right Triangles (Brown 9.1)
CW p.335/17, 21, 29, 30, 40
HW p.335/18-20, 26, 31-36, 39, 43-45

Fri 12/23 Area (Brown 9.2)
CW p.342/17, 19, 31, 34, 36

Inverse Trig Functions

We are taking two days to work through the ideas of the inverse
trig functions (section 4.7 in Demana). Always remember that
you have two textbooks to use as resources.

HW #1 p.402-403/1-11 odd,17,19,33-35,49,51,54,57
HW #2 p.402-403/23-31 odd,37-47 odd,55,59 and p.414/42, 43

Uploaded Trig Worksheets

I have uploaded all of the trig worksheets that we have been using in
class. Look in the conference at the Class Worksheets folder. You can also download the Trig Evaluation Practice Worksheet and the Solving with Sinusoids Packet right here. The answers to the Solving with Sinusoids worksheet are here.

Combining Sinusoids

We spent an enjoyable block experimenting the combinations
of sine and cosine functions on the calculator (download the worksheet here). Continue with HW.

p. 392/17-20,43-49 odd, 52, 54, 55, 57-59

A few more problems...

After the quiz, try these for homework:

p.378/69, 70
p.411-412/15, 16, 25

Graphs of all six trig functions

We graphed all six trig functions and looked at how all of them are
derived from the values for sine and cosine. Quiz of 4.1 to 4.5 tomorrow.

HW p.385-386/1-4,5-11 odd, 27-29,32-34,38,40,42,51,52,54

More likely date for our Quiz

I think it is more likely that we will do section 4.5 on
Monday and have a quiz covering 4.1-4.5 on Tuesday.

Sinusoids, Transformations and Modeling

Section 4.4 will be covered in two sections:
Sinusoids(graphs of transformed sine functions) and Modeling
(using trig functions to model real world problems).

12/7 HW p.376-377/5,6-21 by 3's,22,25,28,30,33-36
12/9 CW p.379/71-74; HW p.377-378/41-57 odd,60,61,64,67
12/12 Quiz on 4.1-4.4; HW p.378/69,70

Circular Functions

We are spending two days on section 4.3 (Circular Functions).
It involves a great deal of vocabulary and the concepts that go
with it. If you find the Demana book doesn't answer your questions,
try the Brown book. Bring your remaining questions to class.

12/5 HW p.365/1-13odd, 17-20, 22, 23, 27, 29, 33-47odd
12/6 CW/HW p.346/2-4 Exploration
                   p.354/62-64
                   p.365-367/49-53, 55, 57-68, 72

Right Triangle Trig

We covered section 4.2 in Demana today: Right triangle trig
and the six functions. If we didn't get to everything in class,
read the book carefully and bring your questions on Monday.

Demana: p.352-354/3-21 by 3's,23,24,37-43 odd,51-56,58,65,66
