Thinking about Probability

Each day this week our discussion of probability will get more
involved. Each day there will be classwork and homework. You
should make sure that you do the classwork as it makes our class
discussions more meaningful. Doing the homework is essential
to ensure that you can see the patterns in the approach to solutions.

5/16 Intro to Probability, Conditional Probability
        CW pp.603/1-4,9-12,4
        HW pp.603-605/5,15,17,19,20,21,23,28,30
              pp.610-612/6,13,15,21,27,28

5/17 Events Together, Independence, Binomial Probability
        CW pp.612-613/29,30 and pp.592/8,10,19,23
        HW pp.610-611/7,11,12,17,20
              pp.593-594/21,22,29
              pp.616-618/3,11,17-20

Starting Probability

We will be starting Counting (Combinatorics) and Probability.
These will be done exclusively from the Brown book, chapters
15 and 16. The test will be around 5/31 or 6/2. This weekend
after the Conics test are some review problems to refresh your memory.

Read sections 15.2 and 15.3 (Section 15.1 is on Venn Diagrams,
you can certainly look it over if you like).
Problems: p.575-577/4-8,13,19,20,25,28,31
               p.580-582/1,11,17,18,20-22,29
