IX. Executive Summary

a. Moderator Skier and Secretary Smith summarize senate's

accomplishments, discussions, and decisions this year

b. The year started off with the creation of open comments and

the executive appointment of a parliamentarian

c. Then, the Card Playing Bill was passed and later vetoed

d. Senate then discussed the five open seats in senate and

cafeteria cleanliness, later forming an Ad-Hoc committee to

oversee cafeteria cleanliness

e. Then, senate passed the Unweighted GPA Bill and since then,

the veto period for this bill has been extended several times

f. Senate Day then took place, for which executive committee

distributed pins which senators were to clip to

their hats

g. Senate then passed the First Class Bill and discussed the

Substitute Bills from 1991 and 1994

h. A debate then occurred about what specifically defines an

underrepresented group at LHS; SLUJ applied for an

open

seat and was denied, while the GSA earned one of

the seats

i. Senate then had a substitute bill redux, as a result of which we

decided to have oversight committee poll the school about

current procedures and policies concerning substitutes

j. We then discussed Sophomore Open Campus Bill but it was

later determined that, since fourth quarter had already started,

the bill would have to revisited early next year

k. The senate then had several weeks of passionate debate

about the Military Recruitment Bill, which was later passed by

senate but then vetoed by Dr. Jones

l. A motion was then made to override the veto of the Military

Recruitment Bill, however; after the motion was struck down

and then later reconsidered, the senate voted to not override

m. Presently, senate is discussing Community Service Bill
