3) Join Peer mediation. Deadline for signups is approaching.

4) Come see the musical Seussical.

V. Open Comments: 1) People who don't show up to Communications committee are not cool just like the kids who shut off lights in the cafeteria as they leave.

VI. Committee Reports: 1) Those who miss 20% of meetings by December will be kicked off Senate or will have to appeal.

2) Executive committee met to draft the community service resolution with the members from Social Action committee.

VII. Community Service 1) There was confusion about the amended resolution that was put into discussion by the executive. Few senators commented that amended resolution was significantly different from the resolution that was in discussion in the previous meeting.

2) Item 3 is not a friendly change.

3) We are out of order.

4) Motion to replace the old resolution text with the new text brought to Senate today. Motion passes 17-15.

5) Amendment to strike subsection #6 under section #3 of the resolution. It is unnecessary. The reports should be sent to Senate.

a) We inserted that because we want the change to be transparent to the community. Purpose of #6 is to add legitimacy to this committee's actions.

b) It should be senate's option to publish.

c) Friendly amendment proposed by Senator Eid-Reiner to put in "sent to Senate" in place of "sent to the school's administration….public policy position".

i) Amendment deemed not so friendly.

d) Eid-Reiner's amendment sounds good. We should endorse Eid-Reiner's amendment.

e) The notion of reporting to all is excessive. Committee should report to the Senate.

f) Amendment passes.

6) Amendment proposed to insert this phrase "publish a comprehensive assessment of Lexington High School's commitment to community service as well as the committee's goals for reforming the program to be sent to the Senate" as the new subsection #5 under #3.

a) Amendment passes.

7) Amendment proposed to change "four students and four teachers" under section #4 to "eight senators". Senate is an egalitarian body. There's no reason to break it down to teachers and students.

a) Amendment passes.

8) Amendment to replace every "must" in the resolution with "will" and replace "has confirmed" under #4 with "will accept".

a) Amendment passes.

9) Amendment to strike "voluntary activism" under section #3, subsection 2. This record on voluntary activism is vague and not worth examining.
